Prior to the start of the season, Derek Jeter announced that his 2014 campaign would be his final season. Now on his last visit at Major League Ballparks, Jeter is being awarded by the teams he has played against over the last twenty years.

The Minnesota Twins honored number two this past weekend at Target Field. I was thankfully able to attend the game, and captured the going-away gift that the Twins gave to Jeter.

Brian Dozier went to the mound to give Jeter the 2nd base from the last game played at the Metrodome (a 4-1 Yankees win over the Twins in the 2009 ALDS), as his first of two gifts. Twins manager Rod Gardenhire then presented Jeter with a $10,000 check for his charity.

Gardenhire was then asked to say a few words regarding Jeter. After thanking him for what he did for the game of baseball, Gardy threw out the line of the weekend.

"Since we're honoring you this weekend, I've asked (Joe) Girardi over there to take you out of the lineup for two more days and we'll be fine in Minnesota."

Since Jeter joined the Yankees in 1995, the Yankees are 160-119 against the Twins. The Yankees took three of four games over the Fourth of July weekend, and finished the season series with the Twins 4-3 in 2014.
