Sara Bareilles Subtly Shades Katy Perry
Remember how Katy Perry and her songwriting and production teams pretty much just did a cover of Sara Bareilles‘ ‘Brave’ with goofier lyrics and called it ‘Roar?’ So does Sara Bareilles. While she was neutral on the songs’ similarities before, she’s speaking out about it now.
When ‘Roar’ first hit airwaves, Perry, Dr. Luke and Max Martin were side eyed for their alleged theft of Bareilles’ tune. And yes, Perry admitted before anything even happened that she loved ‘Brave’:

After ‘Roar’ was released and an uproar started, Bareilles tried to quell the chatter:
All love, everybody. All love.

However, in a recent interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Bareilles admits that there is an uncanny sound-alike quality to the tracks. “I can’t say that I think that they don’t sound similar,” Bareilles said. “I’ve known Katy a really long time, and we’re friends.”
In fact, she added that the copycat tune was “only really good for my song. So, thank you, Katy Perry, for that.”
The shade of it all!
