Sioux Falls Police and South Dakota Highway Patrol stayed plenty busy on Friday the 13th responding to numerous car accidents, including two separate rollover accidents in Sioux Falls and a nine vehicle pile-up on I-90 near New Underwood in western South Dakota.

Friday night around 8:30, Police responded to a rollover accident at 6th and Cleveland. Witnesses say 39-year old John Michael Campbell of Sioux Falls was driving recklessly and speeding when he hit a 2004 BMW driven by 46-year old Berdin Thongchanh Soukkeo, who was stopped at a red light. The driver and one occupant in Campbell's Blazer and the driver and one occupant in the BMW were all transported to Avera McKennan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers were charged with DWI while Campbell also faces three counts of vehicular battery.

Minor injuries were reported in a rollover accident near Cliff and Benson in Sioux Falls while fire and rescue also was on the scene at 57th & Western for smoke and fluids coming from yet another accident.

Meanwhile west river, a wind storm is being blamed for a nine vehicle pile up on I-90 involving two semi's and seven cars. There were several injuries reported and the eastbound lanes were closed just west of New Underwood for several hours.

So far, no one is blaming the full moon on Friday the 13th for any of the accidents.
