Rick Ross, Jay-Z + Dr. Dre Sued Over ‘3 Kings’ Sample

Looks like the only thing Rick Ross is boss of lately is getting into trouble. On top of the driveby shooting attempt on his life, Rozay is being sued along with collaborators Jay-Z, Dr. Dre and producer Jake One over the use of a sample in their ‘3 Kings’ track.

According to court papers via Entertainment Weekly, Clara Shepherd Warrick and Jimmy Lee Weary, who wrote the 1976 gospel song, ‘I’m So Grateful (Keep in Touch)’ claim the sample was not only improperly cleared, but gave only Weary a writing credit and neither have received any monetary compensation for the use of their work.

But their wrath doesn’t end there. They are really peeved that the ‘3 Kings’ video “includes very graphic depictions of drug use, vulgarity, nudity, gun violence, criminal conduct, actions demeaning to women and many other items that are certainly inconsistent with Plaintiffs’ wishes for how Plaintiffs’ song would be portrayed.”

Daaaang. Seeing as their original work was religious in nature, we could see how Weary and Warrick would not be happy with the way their song is being used with the video.

Rick, Jay, Dre and Jake, you got some ‘splainin’ to do!
