Republican Rhoden Promises To Starve Obamacare
According to a release from his campaign, Senator Larry Rhoden, a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in South Dakota, pledged his strong support for defunding Obamacare. The rancher from Union Center is wholly against the Affordable Care Act mainly because of the cost.
“Due to the poor decisions and reckless spending by career politicians in Washington, our nation is nearly $17 Trillion in debt. Making matters even worse, Obamacare is proving to be an even bigger nightmare than we ever expected. It will add trillions to the debt and destroy our healthcare system,” stated Rhoden.
Congress needs to fight Obamacare and do everything it can to stop it. That’s why I strongly support defunding Obamacare. As a U.S. Senator, I will oppose any bill that funds Obamacare. I will stand firm against any continuing resolution or appropriations measure that funds Obamacare. As a U.S. Senator, I will support the Defund Obamacare Act of 2013. This legislation, introduced by Senator Ted Cruz and co-sponsored by 19 U.S. Senators, will completely defund Obamacare,” said Rhoden.
Rhoden then encouraged the other candidates in South Dakota’s U.S. Senate race to join him in his pledge to defund Obamacare.
“The people of South Dakota oppose Obamacare because they know it is a disaster. Congress needs to take a principled stand and defund it. I hope the other candidates in this race stand with me and pledge to defund Obamacare. It is the first step to restoring fiscal sanity in Washington,” said Rhoden.
Rhoden is among four candidates that are currently vying for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Tim Johnson. Mike Rounds and Annette Bosworth join Rhoden on the Republican ticket with Rick Weiland as the lone Democrat.
