Report: South Dakota Among the Best Places to Retire in the US
The Los Angeles Times recently published the results of a Milken Institute study that listed some of the best places to retire in the US.
They took into account economic conditions, healthy lifestyle, access to medical centers, and volunteer opportunities.
And as it turns out, I may not have to leave South Dakota after all.
Sioux Falls (1) and Rapid City (10) are both in the top 10 among smaller cities, along with Iowa City (2), Bismarck (3), and Rochester, Minnesota (5).
The complete lists:
Smaller metro areas: Sioux Falls; Iowa City; Bismarck; Columbia, Missouri; Rochester; Gainesville, Florida; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Missoula, Montana; Durham, North Carolina, and Rapid City.
Large metro areas: Provo, Utah; Madison, Wisconsin; Omaha, Nebraska; Boston, Massachusetts; New York, New York; Des Moines, Iowa and Salt Lake City, Utah (in a tie); Toledo, Ohio; Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
