Report: Minesota Twins Put Justin Morneau on Waivers
Justin Morneau's days with the Minnesota Twins may be numbered.
The Star Tribune is reporting that the first baseman has been placed on revocable waivers, meaning the Twins could take him off waivers if he is claimed by another team.
The move by the Twins was not unexpected, and the waivers are revocable, giving the club a few options:
- If Morneau is claimed by another team, the Twins could pull him back.
- If he is claimed during the two-day period, the Twins could work out a trade with the claiming team.
- The Twins could just let him go, although they would be responsible for the remainder of his $14 million salary for 2013.
If Morneau does clear waivers, he can be traded to any team. The waiver period ends at noon Wednesday.
Morneau enters Tuesday's game with the Indians with a .262 batting average. He's hit 14 home runs and driven in 67 this season. First pitch is 7:05pm on 1140 KSOO.
