Report: Former Minnesota Vikings Punter Chris Kluwe to Sign With Oakland Raiders

Former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe's unemployment lasted all of ten days, as he's expected to sign with the Oakland Raiders Thursday.

Kluwe, who was waived by the Vikes May 6th, replaces Pro Bowler Shane Lechler, who left Oakland for the Houston Texans via free agency. Kluwe’s deal is for one year at the league minimum.

Kluwe told FOXSports.com's Brendon Ayabadejo he's happy to heading back to the state where he went to high school and attended college (UCLA):

I’m excited to be an Oakland Raider and be playing in California.

Now, my family can actually come to games.

The 31-year-old is the Viking's all-time leader in punt average.  He averaged 45 yards a kick last season in Minnesota.

Despite changing teams, one thing Kluwe says won't change is his high visibility on social media:

I’m still going to be myself socially and continue to tweet and interact with my fans.

The Vikings will go with another California college kicker to replace Kluwe this season.  Minnesota picked Cal's Jeff Locke in the fifth round of the NFL draft.
