Remembering Aaron’s 715th

It's hard for me to believe that it has been 39 years since Henry Aaron hit his 715th home run, breaking Babe Ruth's career mark.

Aaron would go on to hit 40 more, with the Atlanta Braves and then the Milwaukee Brewers as he wound down his career.

The vivid memory for me is not the historical aspect of the home run, although Aaron broke a record that some had thought would never be broken.

For me, the memorable part is that I watched the game with my dad. I was working in Huron at the time, odd hours and Mondays off, and I had gone back to the farm to visit my parents on what passed for my weekend.

So Dad and I were watching the Braves and the Dodgers, as Aaron connected off Al Downing.

Dad is gone, and the house they lived in for so many years is also gone, but the memory stays with me and it always will.
