It's not 'snowmaggedon' or 'snowpocalypse' by any stretch of the imagination, but it sure looks like the transition from fall to winter starts Sunday evening in Sioux Falls and the surrounding areas.

The graphic from the National Weather Service here in Sioux Falls is calling for snow to start Sunday evening and continue into Monday while colder temperatures come into the region (and really across the country, save for California.

Here's our extended forecast:

Sunday: Cloudy, with a high near 45. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast in the afternoon.
Sunday Night Rain likely, possibly mixed with sleet before 5am, then snow likely, possibly mixed with sleet. Cloudy, with a low around 31. Blustery, with an east wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Monday: Snow likely, possibly mixed with sleet before 10am, then snow. Temperature falling to around 27 by 5pm. Blustery, with an east northeast wind around 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Monday Night: Snow likely, mainly before 7pm. Cloudy, with a low around 17. Blustery, with a north wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Veterans Day Mostly cloudy, with a high near 26.

For areas north and east of Sioux Falls, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect. A wide area that includes the Twin Cities could see up to a foot of snow from the first snow of the season.
