Jane Little was 87 years young and the Guiness Record Holder for the longest tenure with a single orchestra. Little joined the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra when she was 16 and was still a member up until her death.

Last weekend, after a performance, Little collapsed and never regained consciousness.

Timothy Cobb, the principal bassist for the symphony, was quoted after her Guinness Record saying, "...even more remarkable when you consider that she plays an instrument more than a foot taller than she is."

It really is remarkable she was still part of the symphony considering all that was going on in her life. She had been battling cancer and had recently cracked a vertebrae, but the show must go on.

What a remarkable woman. May she rest in peace.
