The League of Women Voters of Sioux Falls and The Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce are holding a public forum about the initiated measure, amendments and referred laws on the 2016 general election ballot.

The forum will be Thursday September 15, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the
Sioux Falls School District’s Instructional Planning Center 201 East 38th Street. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

Proponents and opponents of the following ballot issues will meet to discuss and answer questions from the public. Among the ballot questions discussed will be:

  • Constitutional Amendment T - Independent redistricting in South Dakota
  • Initiated Measure 21 - An initiated measure to set a maximum finance charge for certain licensed money lenders (36%)
  • Constitutional Amendment U - An initiated amendment to the South Dakota Constitution limiting the ability to set statutory interest rates for loans (18%)
  • Constitutional Amendment V - Open Nonpartisan Primaries
  • Referred Law 19: Election Petitioning Process
  • Referred Law 20: Youth minimum wage cut
  • Initiated Measure 22: Anti-Corruption Act ( create state ethics commission, lobbying and campaign finance rules, public financing for political campaigns)
  • Amendment S: Crime victims rights
