There are two other names to add to the possible GOP list of potential 2018 South Dakota gubernatorial candidates.

A source with a record of accuracy tells me that just-elected Rep. Lee Schoenbeck (R-Watertown) is interested in a run. (We had him on KSOO-AM’s Viewpoint University Thursday and we should have asked him.) This will be Schoenbeck’s third trip to Pierre for the legislature. He’s served previously in both the House and Senate.

The other is almost former state Sen. Larry Rhoden, the state Senate majority leader who ran for U.S. Senate in the June primary where he finished a distant second to eventual winner Mike Rounds and just ahead of now almost former state Rep. Stace Nelson.
