A 13-year-old Sioux Falls boy was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center Tuesday afternoon for allegedly firing a BB-gun at a six-year-old boy who was riding his bicycle.

Officer Sam Clemens says police were called around 3pm to the area of West 56th Street and South Dunlap Avenue, where the boy had been riding when the teen allegedly shot the gun twice from a passing vehicle.

He says the boy on the bike was not hit, and police arrested the suspected shooter.

Clemens says the teen told officers he had been aiming at a tree in front of the boy on the bike.

He went to the JDC for simple assault and discharging a weapon within city limits.

Clemens says the car the teen was riding in was driven by a 15-year-old.
