It's crazy, but in less than two weeks we'll be ushering in a New Year.

If your plan is to welcome in 2016 with a few libations in the company of family and friends, you need to know your best friend that night should be the folks at Tipsy Tow.

AAA in South Dakota, wants to remind residents that Tipsy Tow is back, and is ready to help those who do a little too much celebrating on New Year's Eve night.

Instead of running the risk of getting at DUI or something worse, like an accident, AAA contracts with area towing companies, like Lightning Towing to help keep our streets safe that night.

Mark Hexum, owner of Lighting Towing said, "If you've been to the bar and had too much to drink we’ll provide a ride home for your vehicle and two passengers within a 15 mile radius of where you were picked up at."

South Dakota is one of only 11 states that driver safety programs like Tipsy Tow are available in multiple cities. Residents here in South Dakota can take advantage of the program in cities like; Sioux Falls, Mitchell, Yankton and Rapid City.

"Anybody can call all they have to do is dial 1-800-AAA-HELP,” said Hexum, “just tell them you need a tipsy tow and the dispatcher from AAA will take it from there.”

Generally a tow truck will arrive 30 minutes after the call is placed, and then it usually takes an additional 15 minutes to lift the car.

The Tipsy Tow service will be up and running from 6 P.M. to 4 A.M. through January 2nd. Remember, they allow for only one additional passenger, and you have to go home when the crew arrives.
