Sioux Empire Pit Rescue is entirely volunteer-based with no central facility, so dogs are placed in foster homes until they are adopted. Currently, because there are a limited number of foster homes available, the rescue is unable to take in more homeless dogs until adoptions make space.

You can help. Sioux Empire Pit Rescue is holding Pittie-Palooza, and adoption event, on Saturday, September 19 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Tractor Supply Company at 3520 North Cliff Avenue in Sioux Falls. There are pit bulls, mix and pit bull puppies up for adoption.

Adoption guidelines apply, but the adoption fee on dogs will be reduced to $100 for any online application received the day of the event. Adoption fee includes spay or neuter, vaccinations, and micro-chipping.

Ten adoptable dogs will be at the event for people to meet, including four dogs that are under one-year-old.
