Pierre, South Dakota Makes It to the Monopoly Game Board
Forget Boardwalk, Illinois Avenue, B&O railroad and St. James Place the property space you want to land on now in the game of Monopoly is Pierre, South Dakota!
In case you missed the news back in February, Pierre secured the most votes of any U.S. city in an online-vote to win Boardwalk placement on the "MONOPOLY HERE & NOW U.S. Edition" game board.
Pierre Mayor Laurie Gill said, “The whole Pierre community got behind the vote, and it is really paying off. The game puts Pierre on the map in a very positive way!”
The city of Pierre is planning a party at Prairie Pages Booksellers for the big unveil of the new Monopoly game on Friday, August 21, 2015.
Owner of Prairie Pages Booksellers, Peggy Stout said, “The party is an opportunity for the public to get a look at the new game and revel in the accomplishment. The store is very excited to have the opportunity to host such an event.”
The new MONOPOLY HERE & NOW game will still feature iconic landmark tokens, but the new gameplay has players racing around the board to visit as many locations as possible, collecting passport stamps along the way. Players will collect cash from visitor fees when opponents land on their locations, and the first player to fill their passport wins.
