HOT SPRINGS, S.D. (AP) - A petition to have Hot Springs voters decide on the fate of an indoor pool and mineral spa that's been up for sale for years is circulating around the southern Black Hills city.

KOTA television reports hat city council president Carl Atchley is spearheading the petition drive to buy Evans Plunge.

The council this past week tabled a motion to purchase the indoor water park, agreeing with Atchley that the purchase of the attraction should be left up to the public.

City officials estimate that they could net $50,000 to $100,000 in annual revenue if they take over Evans Plunge.

Supporters would need 126 valid signatures to bring the measure to a public vote.
