HURON - A three-mile stretch of South Dakota Highway 28 in Beadle County will be closed to traffic Monday and an additional 12 miles will be closed on May 13 for construction.

The state Transportation Department says the construction project will replace three box culverts and the Highway 28 bridge over the James River.

The section of Highway 28 to be closed Monday is from the junction of Highway 37 west for three miles. The section to be closed May 13 is from the junction of Highway 37 east for 12 miles.

The Transportation Department says the entire 15-mile length will remain closed until Nov. 1, so motorists will need to find alternative routes.
