Have you ever met someone famous? Being in the radio industry, I've had several chances to meet celebrities. Of course, my favorite star meeting would be Rick Springfield - Vicki Lawrence a close second.

For one Roosevelt High School freshman, she got more than she bargained for while out for lunch in Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday, October 10, 2015.

Madelyn Walsh, 14, along with her mom, Christy (who is my friend from high school), Madelyn's dad, Mark and sister, Lauren, 10, went to Omaha for the Taylor Swift concert. Since Madelyn had been to two other concerts - Miley Cyrus (before she got nasty) and Justin Bieber - it was Lauren's turn to go to a concert.

The Walsh family, along with Mark's sister, Patti Cornell and her daughter, Katy, had lunch at LaBuvette on Saturday. Maddie thought she recognized the man at a table across the room sitting by himself having coffee. It was Vance Joy who was in town to open for Taylor Swift. Maddie is a huge fan of Vance Joy and loves his music. After debating with her mom if she thought it was appropriate to approach him, Maddie eventually made her way over to his table.  She introduced herself and told him she was a huge fan of his music. He stood up to speak to her and asked if she was going to the concert.  She told him that her mom and sister were going. He asked if she'd like tickets and of course she said, yes! He had Maddie put her phone number in his phone.  Later, his assistant called and said there would be four tickets to the concert at will call.  Not only did he make sure Maddie and Katy got to go, but also Maddie's dad and Patti.  Vance graciously signed autographs and took photos.

This was Madelyn's first celebrity encounter. I'm not sure what could top this one.
