It's no big secret that when I retire I want to be a Mall Santa - seriously. I don't know what it is but something magical happens when a young child experiences a Mall Santa.

So the other day I run across this story in the Toronto Star newspaper about this young, good-looking guy who's playing the part of "Fashion Santa."

Young and good-looking and calling himself a "Fashion Santa"? What the heck?

Come to find out, last year a mall in Tornonto introduced shoppers to a "Fashion Santa" - a slimmer, dapper version of St. Nick.

The mall described him as "a handsome, well-dressed version of St. Nick, complete with his own, all-natural white beard."

Fifty-three year old model Paul Mason was the one who played the part of "Fashion Santa" at the Yorkdale Mall.

But this year, mall management decided to replace Mason with a 30-something model who, until recently, had a brown beard.

Here lies the problem. Mason claims the mall is trying to copyright the idea of "Fashion Santa", when he says it was his brainchild to begin with.

"I created Fashion Santa. I'm the one who pitched the idea in the first place."

Fashion Santa fans are now calling for a boycott of the mall, in hopes they'll have a change of heart and bring back the original "Fashion Santa."

By the way, here's a link to the the Toronto Star website if you would like to see a comparison between the "original" Fashion Santa and the "new" Fashion Santa.

I need you to keep your fingers crossed and hope that this whole "Fashion Santa" thing is just a fad - because I sure ain't getting any younger and I'm sure not getting any thinner!!!
