April showers might bring May flowers, but on Tuesday, they also brought dreaded hail stones again.

Admit it, when those hail stones starting falling Tuesday you cringed a little. Okay, a lot! You probably even uttered a few words that I shouldn't type in this story.

That was the typical reaction around here at the radio station station during our little midday hailstorm on Tuesday, when Sioux Falls was once again pelted with pea size hail, which seemingly came out of nowhere.

Fortunately for us, it wasn't the penny to golf ball-size variety that pounded the city on June 4, 2014 leaving thousands of cars damaged and body shops that are still to this date trying to repair hail damage for some motorists.

The good news out of Tuesday's storm is that it dropped quite a bit of rain, much needed moisture that we've been lacking around here for some time.

We needed it, because Minnehaha County just passed a burn ban warning on Tuesday morning, adding to an already long list of bans in place due to the dry conditions in the area.

The state agriculture department is urging residents to take precautions like not driving or parking a vehicle in dry grass and making sure cigarette butts are properly extinguished.

It looks like drizzle and rain will continue in the forecast for eastern South Dakota again Wednesday and Thursday.

New precipitation amounts range anywhere between a quarter and half of an inch possible over the period.

Hey, we'll take it right? Just no more hail please. I finally just got the $11,000 in hail damage on my car fixed a few months ago. I don't wanna go through that again.
