Even though the bridge is new, some improvements are already needed for the Solberg Avenue Overpass.  Beginning on Friday there will be various lane closures on both the north and south sides of the overpass, over Interstate 229, in order for the contractor to perform work on the asphalt bridge approaches.

As you can see in the above photo, the reason for the construction work is to fix the rough transition between the concrete surface on the bridge and the asphalt street leading to the span.   That gap is about one inch to 1.5 inches.  Traffic will still be allowed through this area, but reduced speeds and delays are expected.  Project completion should take place by late afternoon on Friday.
