The Presiding Judge in the Fifth Judicial Circuit is retiring in January, and now his replacement has been named.

State Supreme Court Chief Justice David Gilbertson says the Honorable Scott Myren will be the new Presiding Judge for the circuit when Judge Jack Von Wald retires.

Judge Myren is a native of Mobridge who holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Dakota and a law degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey.

He has been an administrative law judge, magistrate judge for the Sixth Judicial Circuit and a Circuit Court Judge in the Fifth Circuit since 2004.

The Fifth Judicial Circuit is made up of of Brown, Campbell, Day, Edmunds, Faulk, Marshall, McPherson, Roberts, Spink and Walworth counties.
