For nearly 100 years, the Sioux Falls, South Dakota economy was driven largely in part by the Sioux Falls Stockyards. It seemed that the better the agricultural economy did, the healthier the city's economy was.

The yards was big for the state's largest city. As a matter of fact, in the 1970's, the Sioux Falls Stockyards was regarded as the largest auction barn in the country.

Like all good things, it came to an end. It closed in recent years. The Sioux Falls Stockyards lived it's course in time.

One thing is for sure, it will never be forgotten. Especially now, with the opening of a new museum.

The new Stockyards Ag Experience Museum at Falls Park will be unveiled on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. The ribbon cutting is set for 4:30 PM.

Inside the barn will be interactive displays. Visitors will get information on how food goes from the farm to the dinner plate.

It's open to the public on Thursday (March 2) at 10:00 AM.
