At first glance, the 2014 Nebraska football team seems to be right where it should be after two games, with 2 home wins heading to Fresno State this weekend.

But upon closer inspection, you find that there is a great deal of uncertainty surrounding the Cornhuskers, especially after they needed this superhuman effort from Ameer Abdullah to beat FCS opponent McNeese State in the final minute last weekend in Lincoln:

Despite the win, Nebraska was dropped from this week's AP Top 25, the highest rated team (#19) to ever fall out of the poll in 25 years.

I talked to the 'Voice of the Huskers' Greg Sharpe about the overall mood of this team heading into week three and the great individual effort from the senior running back in the win:

The Husker passing game was having issues of its own Saturday, with a depleted receiving corps and a quarterback who was struggling with his accuracy at times:

Defensively, the Huskers were without end Randy Gregory, who was sidelined with a knee injury, and Nebraska had difficulty at times stopping McNeese State, especially on some key third and fourth downs:

Fresno State is the defending Mountain West Conference champs, but the Bulldogs are reeling in 2014 so far after back-to-back thumpings at the hands of USD and Utah.

One of the key areas of concern on the offense has been replacing quarterback Derek Carr, who's now playing on Sundays this year:

But it's on the defensive side of the ball that the Bulldogs have really struggled, allowing a nation-high 111 points after two games, while giving up and average of 268 yards on the ground, yielding 10 touchdowns thru the air without recording a singe interception:

The first road game of the season will also be a test for a new practice routine for Nebraska in 2014:

Kickoff is 9:30pm Saturday in Fresno.  Catch all of the Cornhusker action all season long on ESPN 99.1.
