If you can come up with a great nickname for an icy world on the outer edge of the solar system, you will forever go down in astronomy history.

The New Horizons spacecraft surveyed Pluto two years ago and is now on its way to 2014 MU69, the icy Kuiper Belt object.

The icy world is 4 billion miles away and now the research team is holding a naming contest. The deadline is Dec. 1, 2017.

NASA has promised to announced the winning nickname in January 2018. You can submit your name at frontierworlds.org.

New Horizons aims for a flyby of the object in January 1, 2019.
