The Fourth of July means fireworks to many people, but they're mostly illegal in Sioux Falls.

Police officer Sam Clemens says any fireworks that make noise or send out a projectile are illegal inside city limits. That means Roman candles, bottle rockets and just about everything else are illegal, except for sparklers, snakes and smoke bombs.

Clemens says officers use their discretion to decide whether to issue a warning or to write a ticket when they check out fireworks complaints.

But if you do get a ticket, it's going to cost you $95.
