An ingenious prankster hacked into a Montana TV station's emergency alert system and issued a warning that zombies were rising from the dead and out roaming around.

KRTV in Great Falls was in the middle of a lovers spat on "The Steve Wilkos Show" when the buzzing emergency alert tone started to sound. The warning stated that "dead bodies are rising from their graves and attacking the living."

Radio and TV stations are heavily regulated against broadcasting hoaxes such as this, but since the TV station was hacked I hope they will not face any FCC sanctions.

KRTV issued an apology on their website for the incident that read:

Someone apparently hacked into the Emergency Alert System and announced on KRTV and the CW that there was an emergency in several Montana counties.

This message did not originate from KRTV, and there is no emergency.

Our engineers are investigating to determine what happened and if it affected other media outlets.
