School officials in a suburb of Los Angeles have some explaining to do.  They offered kids a week without homework - if they could get their parents to donate $100 to the school.

Can you imagine how great that must have sounded to the students - no homework for a week if they could convince their folks to donate a hundred bucks?

But only two days into the campaign, parents became furious.  One mom said she felt sorry for her son,

"He was like, Mom, can we do it?  And I'm like, I'm not going to let a teacher or a school bribe my kid and teach them the wrong thing."

So, now school officials have had a change of heart, and have decided to pull the plug on the idea - they've cancelled the fund raising plan all together.  The superintendent says they don't want to send the message to kids and parents that academics has a dollar value.

I hate to break this to the superintendent - but I think it may be too late!!!
