Looks like Sioux Falls’ snow total may be on the low end of the forecast.

The National Weather Service reports that the Sioux Falls Airport had received 5 inches of snow at 7 p.m. Monday.

The forecast called for 5-8 inches.

The NWS reported 2.6 inches in Aberdeen around 7 p.m.

With the snow, Sioux Falls is under a snow alert.

The City of Sioux Falls has been plowing emergency snow routes since noon. Sioux Falls street utility manager Galynn Huber saidon KSOO’s Viewpoint University Monday that the city has 120 snow plowing units working across 18 sectors of the community.

All vehicles parked on emergency snow routes are subject to immediate ticketing and towing. The city released this schedule:

* Plowing in Zone 3 will begin Monday evening after the emergency routes have been cleared. All streets in Zone 3 will be plowed. All vehicles parked in Zone 3 are subject to ticketing and towing during snow plowing operations.

* Plowing of north/south streets in Zone 2 begins 8 a.m. Tuesday. Plowing of east/west streets begins at 8 p.m. Tuesday. All vehicles parked on streets in Zone 2 during snow plowing are subject to ticketing and towing.

* Snow pickup operations in Zone 1 will begin at 1 a.m. Wednesday. Vehicles parked in Zone 1 will be subject to ticketing and towing between 1 a.m.and6 a.m. Wednesday. During a snow alert, parking is prohibited in the downtown area between 1 a.m. and6 a.m.

Other snow alerts:

* Canton: Snow alert has been issued effective at 9 p.m. Monday. Ticketing and towing will be in effect.

* Mitchell: The City of Mitchell continues to plow emergency snow routes Monday evening. No parking on Emergency Snow Routes continues. The plowing of east-west streets within the City will begin at 7 a.m. Tuesday. Any vehicles parked on the east/west streets at that time are subject to ticketing and towing.

* Parkston: City of Parkston will plow the business district and all other streets at 3 a.m. Tuesday. Please remove vehicles prior to plowing.

* Redfield: Snow alert begins at midnight.

Area road conditions:

* The Codington County Sheriff reported at 6 p.m.that county and township roads travel difficult and low visibility.

* The Hamlin County Sheriff also requested at 6 p.m. Monday that motorists reduce speed, as driving conditions are hazardous.
