The hope was for the city of Minneapolis to host the 2018 Super Bowl, the 2019 Final Four and the 2020 College Football National Championship game, but they are going to just have to settle for the Super Bowl and Final Four at this point.

Officials involved reportedly cited "community fatigue" as a possible concern considering the other two events and the possible overlap from those events.

Bill Hancock who is the Executive Director of the College Football Playoff was quoted as saying “There’s a great deal of overlap in these back to back to back events. The fans — will they want to go back to the same place?”

My guess is that Minnesota will be awarded the 2021, 2022 or 2023 National Championship game because US Bank Stadium is not only going to be a marvel, the city of Minneapolis and the surrounding communities will do a great job as they always do in supporting and running such events.

The 2016 National Championship game will be played in Glendale, AZ.
