If you're looking for something to be thankful for this year, I think I just found it. On Monday, Midcontinent Communications began offering a call blocking service to residential phone customers.

Get this new service and never again will you have to endure one of the those pesky telemarketers, a polling service or an auto dialer call.

The new terminating call manager from Midco will intercept all those type of calls before they reach your home landline. The technology also allows customers to add phone numbers to their blocked number list after a nuisance call.

"Terminating call manager will screen nuisance callers, so customers can be sure they are only getting the calls they want", says Tom Simmons, SVP and Chief of Staff at Midcontinent.

The Federal Communications Commission made this possible back in July of 2015 when they urged phone companies to use technology to block robocalls, which is the top complaint consumers make to the FCC.

Here's no surprise, the Federal Trade Commission states there’s been a “significant increase” in illegal robocalls and Do Not Call violations, due to the increasing popularity of Internet-powered phone systems that make such nuisance calls cheap and easy.

Tell me a service like this won't come in handy with election season right around the corner, right?

The terminating call manager service is available to all Midcontinent residential phone customers for a one-time activation fee of $30.

It would also make the perfect Christmas gift for the person who goes postal every time they receive one of those damn nuisance calls.
