Steve Kinser is known as 'The King of the Outlaws' for very good reason. He has set the bar for the sport of sprint car racing.

His name is recognized world-wide in racing. People that don't even follow the sport will bring up the name if someone brings up a race track conversation.

Kinser has done more than just win the most races and World of Outlaws championships. He's made sprint car racing famous.

Off the track, he has been very kind to me over the years on numerous occasions when I asked him for interviews. I have an example of just that for you here.

I visited with him before a race on July 2, 2014. We talked about his storied career.

He told us, 'This will be the last year that I will run 100% of the races. I've been doing this since 1978 and I'm 60 years old and you can't do this for ever. I wish you could, but you can't.'

I asked him about his career, and he said, 'I've won 20 World of Outlaw championships.' He also added by saying, 'I want to thank my fans.'
