James McVay Sentenced to Death in Killing of Maybelle Schein
A Sioux Falls jury returned a death sentence for convicted killer James McVay late Monday afternoon for the 2011 murder of Maybelle Schein.
McVay had pled guilty but mentally ill in the murder case.
McVay killed Schein, stole her car and claimed he was heading to Washington D.C. to kill President Obama.
The jury deliberated nearly six hours Monday afternoon.
McVay now faces death by lethal injection.
