Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether joins Thursday’s edition of Overtime with Jeff Thurn to discuss the brand-new PREMIER Center opening. Hear his interview with Thurn below:

Huether gives his take on the first night at the PREMIER Center, as Joan Jett was the opening act:

"I'll tell you it was wild in terms of just of the excitement. It wasn't so much for Joan Jett, it was just getting people to experience the Events Center in a more grand fashion for the first time. Goodness, it was wonderful. I have been engaging so many people over last couple days. There is a level of excitement right now in Sioux Falls that is just palpable and a lot of it has to do with our new Events Center."

Were people shocked about their reaction to the Event Center?

"People can't believe just how far we have become and how beautiful and spacious it is. And yes, how wonderful everything was from the bathrooms to the audio, video. The beer was cold, Jeff and there's all types of beer. Better food. Just a greater fan and spectator experience. I just can't wait for our first sporting event to happen there because then I think people are going to go 'wow!'

The Sioux Falls Stampede open their season in the PREMIER Center on October 11 against Waterloo.
