Maroon 5 dropped a new song from their upcoming album ‘V,’ a mid-tempo electro love song titled ‘It Was Always You.’

Adam Levine and his band mates opted for an ’80s sound with the new song, available today (July 29) for those who preordered their new LP. The electronic-pop direction is new for the band, but it works well with the frontman’s tenor voice.

‘The Voice’ judge busts out lyrics that have us wondering how much the song was inspired by his very new wife Behati Prinsloo. “Hazel eyes, I was so color blind,” he sings. “We were just wasting time / For my whole life, we never crossed the line / Only friends in my mind / But now I realize, it was always you.”

The model does have green-brown eyes! We’re onto you, Adam.

‘V’ is available for preorder now and will be released in full on September 2. Check out ‘It Was Always You’ above!
