Maroon 5 have had me on a rollercoaster of love and hate.  I love older Maroon 5 such as ‘She Will Be Loved’ and ‘This Love,’ however, some of their newer stuff just gets on my nerves.  I think I’m the 1% of people that didn’t like ‘Move Likes Jagger’ and don’t even get me started on ‘Payphone.’  Their latest single ‘Daylight’ is actually a pretty decent song, but I like the message and awareness they are promoting with the video even more.

The music video is titled ‘Daylight (Playing for Change).’  The video shows the first half of the song being performed by street musicians that belong to an organization called Playing for Change.  Playing for Change is a movement to bring the world together through music.  It started with a few documentary makers wanting to do a movie about street musicians that literally play for people’s spare change.  The documentary lead to an even greater purpose of uniting the world through music and the eventual formation of Playing for Change.  A foundation was set up to help give a musical education to anyone that wants one.  The Playing for Change organization is all over the globe helping to bring peace and unity through music.  They believe music is an international language that everyone understands no matter their race, religion, sexual orientation, or economic standing.

Kudos, Maroon 5. Kudos.
