RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A Rapid City man accused of getting angry at his girlfriend for not picking him up when he was released from jail and raping her has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Forty-four-year-old Mark Gibson on Tuesday pleaded guilty to second-degree rape in the February assault, said he was sorry and asked the judge to sentence him to probation.

Judge Janine Kern cited Gibson's criminal history in giving him a lengthy prison term and ordering him to undergo sex offender treatment. The Rapid City Journal reports that Gibson's criminal history dates back to 1992 and includes convictions for domestic violence and voluntary manslaughter.
