South Dakota experienced another motor vehicle tragedy again over the weekend.

A 55-year old man was killed early Sunday morning when the motorcycle he was riding hit a pickup truck on Interstate 29 near mile marker 75 in Tea.

The accident happened shortly before 5 AM on Sunday, October 25 when the driver of a 2004 silver Chevy pickup traveling south on I-29 lost control. The vehicle went into the west ditch and then into the median, where it rolled and landed in the northbound lanes of I-29.

The driver of the northbound motorcycle that struck the pickup truck was pronounced dead on the scene.

The pickup was being driven by a 25 year old man, the status of his injuries have not been released.

The names of both drivers involved are not being released pending notification of family. They were the only persons involved in the accident.

The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident. More information will be released as it becomes available.
