Some quick thinking and good timing prevented a potential Sioux Falls robbery Monday night. Police are still looking for the suspect.

According to Officer Sam Clemens, the incident occurred near 17th Street and Grange Avenue around 10:45 PM.

“As he was walking, he noticed there was somebody following him. He crossed from one side of the street to the other. As he did so, this guy ran toward him and yelled at him to empty out his pockets.”

Clemens says, fortunately something scared off the suspect before anything was taken.

“A vehicle drove past. The victim was waving his arms to get the attention of the driver. As soon as the suspect saw that vehicle, he took off running.”

The 46-year old victim described the suspect as either a white man or Native American, around 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, 165 pounds with dark clothes.

It is not certain if the suspect had a weapon.
