I can't believe I totally missed this very special day! Monday, February 20, 2017 was "Love Your Pet Day" and people all over the country, including all sorts of celebs were celebrating by posting pictures of their beloved pets on all social media platforms.

How this opportunity sneaked past me, I don't know, but I'm about to remedy the situation by posting a plethora of pet pictures. But first, why do our pets deserve a special day of love?

Over 65% of the households in the U.S. own some sort of pet. Although they have many qualities which make us adore them, there are other, more scientific reasons for you to celebrate your furry, feathered or even scaly friends.

  1. People with pets tend to get more exercise than people who do not.
  2. People with pets have lower blood pressure and cholesterol, things which factor greatly in heart disease.
  3. Pets relieve anxiety and stress.

(These scientific study results are culled from multiple studies done in the U.S. by the Centers for Disease Control, The American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry, the University of Miami, the University of Maryland School of Nursing, and others and compiled by Consumer Reports)

So there you are, your beloved pet is probably extending or even saving your life! All hail creatures great and small! Here are a few in my life. . .
