GARY, IN -- The Gary Southshore RailCats (14-8) drove in runs early and often and the Sioux Falls Canaries (6-16) were never able to catch up on their way to their eighth straight loss.

Gary scored three runs in the second inning, one in the third and two more in the fourth and the game was never in doubt as the RailCats coasted to a 9-2 victory.

Morgan Coombs (3-1) threw a complete game for the RailCats, allowing just six hits while striking out three and walking only one batter.

The lone scoring for the Canaries came in the seventh inning when Chris Duffy hit a two-run homerun, his third of the sesaon.

Kyle Ruwe (1-3) went the distance for the Canaries in the loss, but never truly settled in.  The righthander gave up 13 hits and threw two wild pitches, although his deep outing ensured that the Canaries bullpen will be fresh for  Sunday.

Danny Pulfer did the most damage for Gary, driving in three runs and raising his season RBI total to 20.  Drew Martinez, Ryan Babineau, Wally Backman, Craig Maddox and Zac Mitchell each had two hits for Gary.

The series will wrap up Sunday afternoon at 2:10 PM.
