Music Director Delta David Gier of the South Dakota Symphony has been wowing Sioux Falls audiences since 2004.

It appears that talent runs deep in the Gier family as Delta's daughter Anna Gier, was recently accepted to Oxford in the UK for college.

Over the last year Anna has been working "slaving" over Oxford’s ridiculously rigorous application.  She has also been able to study singing in NYC, intern at the Opera Theatre of Montclair, volunteer at the Montclair Township Animal Shelter, and become certified as a bartender.

As her brother, Delta Gabriel Gier, puts it:

Turns out the Modern Language program she's gotten into is SUPER exclusive. There are only four people that were accepted into this program GLOBALLY. So it's a pretty big deal.

Anna is crazy smart and has been working so hard to get into college, and now she's been accepted by a college that didn't even take women until 1970!

And while the normal solution would be to apply for financial aid and take out loans, it's not that simple in the UK. Turns out they don't do financial aid for American students.

So rather than just giving up there is a fundraising program to see if enough money can be raised to get my sister to Oxford.

To my knowledge no other woman from from Sioux Falls has ever been offered this prestigious opportunity.

What say we all get together and help one of our own realize a dream!?  Please, click on the picture below to help send Anna to Oxford!
