Best known  for playing Spock in the Star Trek Movie and TV universe, Leonard Nimoy has died. The the actor, director and writer was 83. The New York Times reports that his wife said the cause was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Nimoy was probably best known for playing the Vuclan Spock on Star Trek the original series, on The Next Generation and in seven movies. He also directed two of the Star Trek movies as well as Three Men and a Baby among others.
