Over 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Most of us know someone who is battling it, who has survived it or in my case has lost loved ones to it. It is a devastating disease that continues to tear lives and families apart.

Susan G. Komen South Dakota's mission is to increase access to breast health screening and treatment and also to invest in innovative research in a quest for a cure. Funding from this great organization has provided support programs, education outreach, travel assistance to treatment centers and more.

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is coming up this Sunday, September 28th at Falls Park. Registration begins at 7 and the 5K Run/Walk starts at 9, the 1 mile walk- - at 9:15. There will be numerous other activities for the whole family, like Yoga in the Park, Zumba, and even an expo with Komen merchandise for sale.

If you want to get involved but don't see yourself walking or running in the race, no problem! It takes a lot of volunteers to put this event together and they are looking for you!
