The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, was anything but boring. The STP 500 at Martinsville featured an afternoon of racing action.

The short .526 mile track in Virginia holds a lot of history. At 70 years old, it is NASCAR’s oldest track and many legends have won there.

It has been a battle ground in NASCAR racing. Sunday’s race added to the list of battles.

There was a vast amount of banging and contact. The result was a number of crashes, some involving multiple cars.

The race had 14 cautions with some cars taking on too much damage. But in other situations, there were remarkable comebacks.

The race battle itself, was between Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch. These guys went back and forth for the lead.

Then after the final pit stop, putting on four new tires, Busch’s car faded badly against Keselowski, who moved to the lead with 42 of the 500 laps to go, and stayed there.

A very disappointed Busch, and rightfully so with his car, managed second, nearly two seconds behind the race winner. Chase Elliott was third, Joey Logano fourth and Austin Dillon fifth. Take a look at where your driver came in.

The driver that was a sensation over the past four events and winning the last one, Kyle Larson, earned the pole for this one, but finished way back at 17th.

Larson led the standings coming into Sunday’s race, and still does. But he lost some ground as his lead shrunk to just four points over Elliott.

It was the first time a Ford has won at Martinsville in 15 years. Now, next up for racing, Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday.
