Katy Perry Kills Nun. Well, That’s Not Exactly True

Katy Perry has wanted to get into a convent for some time now. Okay, that's not exactly true either. But it is true that she has been in a protracted battle with an order of elderly nuns over the sale of their convent. The property is an 8-acre hilltop property with Roman-villa style buildings in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles.

"The Sisters of the Most Holy and Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary have owned the property for more than 40 years, but they haven't lived in the convent for several years." Perry has been interested in the property since 2014.

The archbishop of Los Angeles set up a meeting between the nuns and Katy, which turned out to be one of her best performances to date. Katy reportedly dressed modestly, (I can just imagine it- -sweet little Katy in a cardigan, plaid skirt and saddle shoes) sang "Oh Happy Day" and even showed off the Jesus tattoo on her wrist.

Ms. Perry explained that "she wanted to live on the property with her mom and grandma, sit in the meditation garden, drink green tea and 'find herself'." The meeting went fairly well, but afterward the celibate sisters checked out a few of Katy's videos, which needless to say, left them wide-eyed and dismayed.

Perry went ahead and offered to purchase the property for $14.5 million back in 2016. But the wily nuns, attempted an end run around the offer by attempting to sell it to another entrepreneur, who wanted to turn the convent into a boutique hotel. That deal was voided by a judge due to improper procedure on the sisters part.

Katy's offer has been accepted by the archbishop of Los Angeles, but must now be okayed by the Vatican. So if she can impress the Pope, who knows. . .

On Friday, March 9, during a court appearance for their lawsuit, one of the nuns involved, Sister Catherine Rose Holzman, 89, collapsed and died. Just hours before the hearing, she had spoken to a TV station imploring Perry to back away from her attempts to buy the convent, indicating that she was "hurting a lot of people".
