Jay Barse of Watertown Pleads Not Guilty to Killing Infant

WATERTOWN - A South Dakota man has pleaded not guilty to killing a 14-month-old infant.

KXLG radio reports that 25-year-old Jay Barse, of Watertown, appeared in court Tuesday and entered a not guilty plea to the second-degree murder charge.

Authorities say Barse killed 14-month-old Serenity Seaboy, who died from head trauma. Authorities say Barse is the live-in boyfriend of the girl's mother.

Barse's next court hearing is scheduled for May 30. He remains in custody at the Codington County Detention Center.
