After splitting a pair of games last week, it's on the road for a single game this week for the South Dakota State women's basketball team.

The Jackrabbits start the week right in the middle of the Summit League pack at 3-3 as they play at Western Illinois Wednesday night.

Last week, SDSU used a big 51-point first half to cruise to a 101-66 win over Omaha in Brookings.

The Jacks played well on both ends of the floor and got 22 points and nine rebounds from Mariah Clarin.

Jacks head coach Aaron Johnston on the big first half against the Mavericks:

Last Saturday in Vermillion, SDSU lost to USD for the second straight time, falling 82-78, in the first meeting since the Coyotes eliminated the Jacks from the Summit League Tournament last March.

South Dakota State was without leading scorer Megan Waytashek for the game, due to illness.  Coach Johnston says the senior was missed in the DakotaDome:

The Jackrabbits will attempt to bounce back from that loss when they play at Western Illinois Wednesday night.

The Leathernecks feature the pre-season conference player of the year, Ashley Luke, and she's proving why so far, leading all Summit League scorers (24 points per game) and second in rebounding (14 per game).

Coach Johnston says Luke presents some big challenges defensively:

Tipoff is 7:00 PM Wednesday night in Macomb, IL.
